to try this:-

1. Put the Windows XP disk in the drive and open it. Search for a file called: mswsock.dll and extract it to the folder on the computer called: system32. There's already a file with the same name, and when asked if she wants to overwrite it your friend should say 'yes'.

2. Go to Start and select 'Run'.

3. Type this in the box: regsvr32 mswsock.dll

4. Click OK

5. Reboot the computer.

There's no guarantee this will work, but it's worth a try.
