When I switch my computer on it boots up as usual and then b/4 the desktop comes on I get this message, I have Windows 2000 Professional.
Checking the file system on D:
The type of file system is FAT32.
One of your disks needs to be checked for consistency. You may cancel the disk check but it strongly recommended that you continue( it gives me 10 seconds to stop check by pressing any key) Windows will now check the disk. Volume serial No is 4001-2EA5. Windows is verifying files and folders. This takes 10 minutes, file and folder verification is complete. Windows is verifying free space, this takes about one and a half hours and then everything is O.K.but a lot slower. I have to go through this every time I switch on. Can any-one help or is my hard-drive kaput?
