I'm running windows ME and when i shut down I get an error message:
"Ccapp caused an error in unknown. Ccapp will now close."
when I click close the pc shuts down but when it starts up next time it goes through the scandisk screen.
Does anyone know what program Ccapp is connected to and any possible way of repairing it.

You didn't say what Norton Product you were using.

Try uninstalling and if AV use click here

If Internet Security or Personal Firewall use click here

to clean all remnants.

reboot and reinstall...

thank you ...
I will try this and see if it clears the problem
I have norton system works 2003 and norton personal firewall installed.
reinstalling cured the error message and the machine shuts down properly now but on re starting the improper shutdown message appears and scan disk runs.
It may not be the same program causing this and I need to find out what exactly is causing this and then sort it out.
thanks for your input ..It all helps.
