Eddie 2425,

error code msdos 11, is a code associated with Media, i.e. the cd rom.

have you got a way to make a recovery disc with your system, or is it an oem copy of XP.?

that was a quick response Joe R thanks, the discs that i have were created when i bought the pc, when you start the pc it gives you the option to create back up discs which is what i did and i have both, i have rebooted previously ok but this time i only get as far as disc 1

Hi, go into Device Manager and right-click on CD/DVD ROM drives and then click on Update Driver, for each one individually if you have more than one.
Then try again.

Eddie 2425,

can you try to get the discs copied on another system.? Another drive may be able to read them.

Failing that, you may have to try and get a set of restore discs. Can you post the model number of your PC.?
