I get this error message when trying to uninstall programs...

Error (- 5006 : 0x8007002)

Here are the details...

Error Information:
>Kernel\TextSubstitution.cpp (292)
>SetupDLL\SetupDLL.cpp (1225)
$7.0.100.1342
@Windows XP Service Pack 2 (2600) BT_OTHER 0.0

I have searched for solutions for this problem but have found nothing to solve it, can anyone help me please...?

Right then....

First reinstall the program and then uninstall it as normal using windows add/remove programs from the control program.

Tried doing that, but to no avail.

I tried repairing the program and even uninstalling it through the program not add/remove programs but i still get the same error. I get slightly different details from other programs, but always the same error.

I'm pretty sure that's it's something to do with the installer program, and searching for other solutions i found this...

...but i don't know how to go about...

"To recreate the setup.inx file, compile the setup script or rebuild the existing release\media"

By rebuilding the existing "release\media" does this mean reinstalling or something else? And does it refer to the program or the installer?

Any help much appreciated, thanks.

Restart your Pc with your windows disk in.

Select the option to 'Repair'

This will check and reinstall any problems, such as windows uninstaller.

Try and uninstall now...

other thing to try.

Boot into 'safe mode' and try uninstalling from here.

Nope, still no joy.

I've tried replacing the missing .inx file from the programs installshield folder directly from the programs installation CD, this does bypass the error message and i can then choose to remove the program. However, on doing so the program still remains present on my computer.

And still i am completely stumped...
