ERRO MESSAGE ON START UP?

Just started getting a error message on start up on my laptop(win xp home)it reads,

RUNDLL

ERROR Loading C:\progra~\\uninst~l.Dll
THESPAECIFID MODULECOULD NOT BE FOUND

Any ideas

yes all is ok it is when I turn off the laptop (not)sleep or Hibernate

First off I would check the filing system:
Start, Run, 'sfc /scannow', OK. Note the space.

tried that but it is asking for a win xp service pack 2 cd which i dont have as it is all dloaded from ms

Look on the C drive for I386 folder. If there is one, edit the Registry (backup first):

Start, Run, 'regedit', OK.

Navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsCurrentVersion\Setup

You will see various entries here on the right hand side. The one we want is called:

SourcePath

It probably has an entry pointing to your CD-ROM drive, and that is why it is asking for the XP CD. All we need to do is change it to:

C:
Simply double click the SourcePath setting and a new box will pop up allowing you to make the change.

Now restart your computer and try scannow sfc again!
