Erasing Hard Drive

I am looking to erase the hard drive on my old laptop. I was wondering however, If i totally erase the drive I will have to re-install XP and everything else. I have back up discs from the Manufacturer. Will this disk contain the XP operating system or do I need a separate XP disk (which I dont have as XP was pre-installed)?

Please don`t post in two places with the same problem.

if you have the back up disks then you have no problems. when you put the disks in part of the backup is to format the drive so do not worry if the disk came with the laptop then if you still have the instruction book for the machine it will state how to use the disks.
