Erase disk partitions on new Sony Vaio

  jimmylove 10:36 31 Jan 06

I want to remove the two partitions that are pre-installed on my new Vaio laptop. There is a lot of software also pre-installed - can anyone tell me if erasing the partitions to make one large C drive will cause any problems, and also how to actually erase the partitions...

Thanks a lot,

You can fdisk, delete partitions and create 1 or more. This will explain + more: click here

BTW This is the way to go only if you have a full xp disc,if you've only got a recovery xp disc it will mess things up.

I have a W98SE Sony Vaio laptop which has two partitions. If you choose to do so, you can return to Factory conditions using the System Recovery CD ROM. When the reinstall routine gets to the partitioning routine, opt for no partitions. Back up your Data first,as you will lose the lot when you start this routine. Have a good read of the Sony handbook before starting. Best of luck.
