Epson stylus C44

Just received this from a friend, can anyone help?

I've just tried to turn my printer on, Epson Stylus C44 plus. It's returning a message to the effect that 'parts in my printer have reached the end of their working life, please have it serviced'

I have never seen this type of thing before on any other printer I have owned. Its just over a year old ( of course) and has been working fine. Is this Epson's idea of preventive maintenance.

After the gripe, does anybody know if I can get around this, or can somebody 'service' the thing, or anybody know an Epson service agent

I had an Epson C44 a while back and the same thing happened to me.
The answer is to get in touch with Epson (by phone) and finding the location and phone number of your nearest Epson fitter. He will reset the counters and do a service which in November last year cost me £25.00. It`s worth it because that printer is a damned good workhorse. Good luck mate.

I also had the same thing with mine and got good results from using the Epson online help service.
