Epson status Monitor

My printer (Epson Photo 895) has intermittent problems with the Epson Status Monitor which crops up and says "connection problems " or whatever,at regular intervals even when the printer is happily printing my documents.

I have tried reinstalling the software and printer drivers to no avail.

I am using Windows XP Home.

I think a search for the latest driver from the epson website might help.

A few printer models back when my photo 700 didn't like a new environment I spent a fortune on the Epson help line. The relevant point seemed to be that Epson "then" were unenthuisiastic about their own Status Montior software and told me to use just the updated driver!

It didn't solve my problem but a new driver might solve yours.

Afterthoughts...... I assume it is USB.. or is it parallel, in which case is the LPT1 port set to ECP in the BIOS?
