Epson compatible cartridges and ink level monitor

I have replaced the cartridges in my Epson DX5000 with compatibles which work fine and are of course far better value than the genuine items.

The problem is with the ink level monitor which won't recognise the ink levels and I have turned it off to stop the annoying error messages.

Is there any way of monitoring the ink? how will I know the cartridge is running low as I understand you shouldn't print without any ink as it's bad for the print head.

Go to the Epson Europe site and download the latest Ink Monitor, it might then work as normal. I too use Epson compatibles, levels show as normal.

I use Compats in my RX620 but the Software works OK. It may be the carts you get. Try from click here

Thanks, I think it is the brand I am using as the last compatibles were fine.

The new ones I am using have an auto-resetting chip and a seperate ink tank (19ml) to save costs on future refills. And at £6 for a set of 4 including postage (ebay) I can't really complain.
