Epson C62 Refill Problem

I have just attempted to refill my black ink cartridge after being informed by the software that it had run out. However, after re-filling and waiting a day or so, it still says that the cartridge is empty - and refuses to print. Is there any way around this (can I disable BI-DI support?)? Is this something to do with "chips" on the cartridges? Can someone help (or point me to an article or something) and explain what all the "chipping" business is about (I guess its a way for manufacturers to try and ensure we use their new cartridges and not refil them - mo' money for them!).

Thx

Yes, the C62 is a chipped cartridge and you would need to get a chip "resetter" The alternative is to buy ready chipped compatible cartridges from Choice Stationery at click here or Tonezone at click here

Thx ennuye

Is this a piece of software or hardware?

According to the Choice catalogue it looks like a piece of hardware. This is what it reads: "JR Inkjet Universal Zap It is required for some Epson cartridges that contain Intellidge Chips. The Zap It will Re-programme the Intellidge Chip to show a full ink level once the cartridge has been refilled. The Zap It kit is required for the following Epson printer cartridges: -

Epson 680, 685, 777, 780, 790, 795, 810, 820, 830, 870, 875, 890, 895, 915, 925, 1270, 1280, 1290, C42, C60, C62 and 2000P.

* The Zap-It Kit does not contain any ink, a refill kit must be purchased to refill printer cartridge *

Choice Price: £9.99 Including VAT at 17.5%"

Everywhere refills and compatibles are mentioned, Choices appears. I think I'll just have a shop around on the CHoices website and see what I can pick up.
