Encoding DVDs

Any one know of a good program to encode avi on to a DVD so I can watch it on the house DVD

I normally use sonic which is good for mpg or video cam to DVD but for some reason it doesn't like Avi

Sonic shoudn't have any problems encoding avi to .vob, describe the problems your having....

Well its avis downloaded from the net using limewire, when i come to use sonic it says i dont have the right codec, but it doesnt tell me what i do need

Try running the file through GSpot click here it will let you know which codec you need, mike1967.
