I was checking out system configuration startup programs and I found "emwbwvz.exe". I can't seem to find out any info on this and I have tried Pacs-Portal for help but nothing there.

Does anyone no what this is?

Thanks star5

This could be something naughty that has been placed on your computer. Some viruses etc use random character generation to avoid detection. Try disabling it at startup and see what happens. You could also search your hard drive to find what folder it's in. When you find it, right clicking the file and selecting "Properties" might tell you the author.

This file is in C:\WINDOWS\system32\emwbwvz.exe. I tried right click/properties but there was no information about the program. I shall try disabling it and see what happens.

Thanks for your help Gongoozler,

Have you tried scanning for viruses and adware (for adware use AdAware click here)?

Thanks Gongoozler,

I downloaded Ad-Aware and it found 376 objects and I had just used Spybot earlier today.

It found emwbwvz.exe and it said:

vendor: booked space
category: malware
object type: process
risk level: high
TAC rating: 10
comment: (CSI MATCH)

Description: No installer. May cause browser instability. Undisclosed installation. Installs other items. Opens unsolicited websites.

I was having problems with internet explorer so I just used firefox instead. IE had porn pop ups and I could not type in the address bar. Thanks for your help Gongoozler, now it is gone and IE is working fine.

Thanks again
