Empty the Prefetch Folder in WinXP?

Is it safe to delete the contents of the Windows Prefetch Folder in WinXP ? I know it improves the boot time considerably but can you damage anything by clearing the prefetch out please?

Thanks in advance.

Also any update sites for sourcing msconfig items to see what can be unchecked or removed would be interested for XP & Vista

I empty it on XP whenever I do a cleanup. Select all the files and press delete. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. David

On my older machine it has zapped a minute off boot time making it about 25 seconds! I was being hypmotised by the stobe on XP boot until now.

Thanks !
