Emailing *.exe

  atommygunn 16:40 27 Jan 03

Can anyone tell me why I can't email *.exe files from my Outlook system. Is it something to do with Freeserve?

some servers do not allow *.exe.

Zip the file up click here and then send it

Probably because the virus scanning rejects .exe on principle. Zip it first and it should go OK.

As madboy33™ infers, size is an issue, if your trying to email programs then their size will be dependant on what your server allows..

Just in case zipping the file causes a problem when it's unzipped (it occasionally makes an .exe file unexecutable), you can simply re-name the file as *.0 (or any other meaningless extension) and instruct your recipient to change the name back to *.exe when he receives it.
