email problem

Firstly a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year to all Poster's.
I have recently changed my ISP. This was as a result of what I think was overload on the previous provider, in that I had no service during the evening. Perfectly OK all day!
I am now with AOL, mainly because I am able to have a free phone service Worldwide.
AOL do not seem to like it if you wish to use Outlook Express as your mail server. It is necessary to use 'imap.aol' for incoming mail The problem is that I am now finding that my inbox is being deleted after only 4 to 5 days and I cannot find a way to stop this. Also I have two inbox's and would prefer to return to one. Any idea's please.
