email attachment problems

I have tried to send an email with attachments and it has come back with the following message:

"This message is larger than the current system
limit or the recipient's mailbox is full. Create a shorter message body or
remove attachments and try sending it again."

If I send them one at a time they will go but not a few together. Why does this happen. It is not just my internet provider because my brother had the same problem sending attachments to a friend of his using another provider.

Quite simply most email providers limit the size of attachments that can be sent in the same way that they limit mailbox sizes - just as it says in the returned message.

Depends how big the attachments are as well as the size the ISP allows for the recipients mailbox.

I uinderstand most ISP's limit the size of the attachments to 1.5 MBs. This stops the systems from overloading. So if yours a bigger than this they are too big.
