Email with attachment from "My Documents"

I tried to email a friend yesterday adding an attachment from My Documents. My normal email service is through my ISP, which is Onetel.
Why then did I get up the Microsoft Express email page? I did go through the procedure of making sure that Onetel was my Default setting but I still had to compose and send from M.Ex. when I
finally pressed `send` the page cleared as normal but the message never arrived, and I`ve no trace of it on my PC. I have Win XP Pro with SP2. All help greatly appreciated.
