Eee PC Restore

I have a Eee PC904HD which I need to restore using the supplied recovery disc and an external USB CD drive. I'm sure I must be missing something obvious because I cant get it to recognise the recovery disc.

Hope this makes sense.
The CD drive is new and works on another pc.
The recovery disc can be read on another PC.
The Eee PC will recognise the drive and will load any other disc, but says "insert a disc" whenever I use the recovery disc and drive together.
Finally the recovery disc and drive work on another PC.

Anyone able to help a confused old git !!

Assuming that you didn't delete the UnionFS hidden partition,

When the splash screen shows, keep pressing F9

Reinstall from there and see if that works.

My Eee PC is the 904HD so there is no SSD or recovery partition.

BUT I solved it even though I am still a little confused. I used the same USB CD drive and recovery disc, only this time I powered the CD drive from a external power supply rather than rely on the USB power. This worked ok.

Thanks for responding.
