Editing Windows Media Player files

I've got a Windows Media Player video file I need to edit as a one-off, basically just to get rid of the last few seconds of the movie. Can anyone suggest a freebie program that will do that - maybe something from the last year or so's PC advisor CD's which I've got sitting on my shelf...

Thanks for the info, but it didn't seem to help. However, I found 'Windows Movie Maker' on my hard disk, imported the Windows Media Player file, edited and saved the file, which can be played in WMP.
