Editing wallpapers?

I got a wallpaper for my desktop of a site, but it has a little bit of writing in the bottom corner.

Does anyone know how I can edit it out?

This section of the wallpaper is all the same colour so it would be as simple as blocking it out?

Any suggestions?

Open the wallpaper up in an image editing package. Paint will do the job for you but if you prefer you can use any software you have available. Now just simply draw a rectangle over the writing which is the same colour as your background.

If you have Photo Shop, transfer the picture to this and use the Clone button to wipe it out.

And how would i open this up in paint??

right click it and click open with and choose paint.

would you buy the Mona lisa then paint over daVinci's signature?

If you happen to still be using win98 and dont have 'open with' in the context menu just open paint then open the file from within the program.
