Editing a 'read only' video file

I have a 'read only' dvd of a wedding that needs serious editing before copying onto VCR's for the family. The original file has been deleted. I tried 'Any dvd' and seemed to copy the file onto the hard drive but it is untitled and will not load into Windows Movie Maker.

You should be able to right click the File and change the properties to archive

You can copy the dvd to your hard drive in the maner you descrive however the file or files you end up with are not the kind of files you can edit on your PC. What you could do is connect your domestic DVD player to the capture card on your PC and re capture it as an .avi file. You should then be able to load this file into your video editing program.

I think that if you find and download an Mpeg editor from the net then you should be able to edit your movie.
