dxdiag no longer works

i have recently tried to run dxdiag and it will not work.i have an athlon 2600+ with 512dd,r 9800pro graphics,and win xp home with sp2.anyone any ideas.when it does starts it gets as far a analizing directinput info then just freezes.

have you allow acess to the internet? it could be being blocked by the firewall.

I've just tried (XP Home, SP2). It didn't freeze but the hard drive kept chuntering away as if it was stuck in a loop. Left it for 15 minutes then exited. Had to end the process in Task Manager to completely stop it. So it does look like a bug.

It all loads and I can test it.

not running norton useing zone alarm had a look at program permisions and dxdiag not there,useing dx9 version c.any other ideas.sorry seems to be working now bizzare it just takes an age to give info

no, disk check.click on my computer select your drive,right click,properties,tools and select check the volume for errors,tick the box and reboot windows will do the check on boot up
