Dvorak for Eeepc/Linux

I've just purchased an eeepc that I'm loving. I'v been trying for hours however to change the keyboard layout to DVORAK. I've never had a LINUX OS before, but I thought it would just be a case of changing the Input Method. Dvorak's in the list of input options but not amount of tinkering is getting it to work.

Help, please!

I also installed Mozilla Leet, mistakenly thinking it would solve my problems, but if I'm correct, it will only give me DVORAK in a particular text box?

Many thanks for any advice!

If it uses KDE (which I think it does) just go to the Control Centre page and there will be a set of options on the left hand side.

Simple Mode doesn't have an icon for KDE Control Centre but you can do it this way:

Ctrl-Alt-t to launch a uxterm
Type 'kcontrol' and press enter
Navigate to Peripheral Devices > Keyboard Layout
Click the entry in Active Layout to highlight it, scroll down so you can see Layout Variant, change it to dvorak and hit Apply
