I have an ATI radeon 4600HD graphics card and I was wondering if there would be any benefit getting a DVI/HDMI adapter and connecting my monitor with an HDMI cable rather than a DVI-D cable?

by using hdmi lead i can use the sound from the ati hd card instead of using onboard realtek sound

As far as the graphics signal is concerned, if there was any discernible difference, it's likely to be worse, as any converters are going to degrade a signal rather than improve it.
