Can any one help me?. For some unknown reason my DVD/RW is not working.
I am using XP Home and my DVD is a “Liteon DVDRW LDW-8515.

It would seem that to the computer the DVD unit does not exist, when I went to
the CONTROL panel and double clicked ADD HARDWARE I found that in the list of “the following hardware has been installed” that the LITEON DVDRW was listed but with a RED CROSS through it. As I continued checking I found that the unit had been disabled CODE 22.

What does this mean and how can I get round it?. Weejohn.

Code 22
This device is disabled. (Code 22)

Recommended resolution

The device is disabled because a user disabled it by using Device Manager. Click Enable Device. This starts the Enable Device wizard.

In device manager, click on the DVD/RW and click on enable.

Uninstall it
reboot the PC
let windows find and install new hardware
make sure you have the drivers for it.
