+ discs are more suitable for DVD recorders that sit under the TV and rewrite the discs and - discs are more suitable for data storage and DVD video.

In other words for best performance, use + discs for direct real-time recording to the disc and - discs for writing from a PC (such as data or a film).

Beg to differ unless you particularly want to keep long term a dvd recording. -RW are fine you can finalize and watch on another machine then re-use as and when required means.
