DVD/CD drive will not open

  toofy 20:17 10 Nov 08

I wanted to back up some info onto a CD but am unable to because the CD drive will not open. The drive does respond to the request to open but the tray fails to appear. I have windows XP installed. The drive has always opened in the past. There are a few suggestions in the columns on this forum on ways to tackle this fault. I do not know which to pick and would appreciate guidance as to how I may solve this problem. Am not very pc savvy, sorry.

If you look closely at the cd drawer you may see a pin size hole,i straighten paper clip inserted into this hole should release the drawer.

Then run Ccleaner click here you machine maybe looking for some information from the cd drive.

Reboot the computer.
