DVD Writers

My PC based DVD Writer won't get a 3 hour beta tape on to one DVD, even though it says maximum time for recording 3h 15m 10s.

I have been told to get a standalone DVD recorder which will record up to 6 hours on one DVD. How is it possible? using the same 4.7gb blank DVD discs.

If I get a standalone DVD recorder to copy all my beta tapes to DVD would it work? Because they are beta tapes recorded a long time ago the quality is not a problem. They weren't very good in the first place.

Most commercial DVDs are dual layer so they are twice as big. They are a bit like an audio tape where you can record on both sides (not by turning it over!)

I am now researching a domestic standalone DVD recorder. I will tick this as resolved.
