Running XP sp2
CD/DVD drive is a TSST corp CD/DVDW TS-H552U

if that is the right info. THe DVD Drive has been fitted 18 months, but onyl used 4 times to write DVD. currently I'm trying to put video's onto DVD for my holiday. I've using a mercury TV card to capture the video and saving them in MPEG 1 format.

Nero Vision is converting the video before burning ok, the problem occurs when going to burn the DVD.

It either gets stuck on the lead in stage are shortly starting to burn the actual data.

Here is the lase 5 lines of the error log

I've tried burning a data DVD with nero and that failed, but then a did a data DVD on the same drive that worked fine.

I ran the Nero CD-DVD speed tool and it came up with this message when doing the CPU Usage test it came up with the following error
"Error ! L-EC (uncorrectable Error (031105)"

As I have only 256 MEG could it be possible I don't have enough memory to burn at x16 ?

Or has anyone got any suggestions .

Mpeg 1 was for CDroms, It needs to be encoded to MPEG2 for DVD`s.

Or try making a VCD, but the quality wont be as good.

Thanks for the response.

Could that cause the error during burning then ??

Its probably not recognising the DVD as its read the code and is looking for a CD to burn on.
Also in nero startup window is the little box top centre showing CD/DVD ?

Box is just showing DVD.

Click on the little arrow on rhs of box for dropdown menu and select CD/DVD

Ok I'll give that a try.

why will it make a difference. The program/Computer will know it's writing to a DVD. Just curiousr. I'm not doubting you.

No it wont make a difference unless you want to do a vcd, but if you want to burn to DVD you will need to convert to MPEG2.

Ok will have another try tomorrow.

Many Thanks for your advice.
