DVD writable + or - ?

I recently bought a new PC with a DVD+R. I realise there are 2 standards - being + or - and there are units that combine both, can anyone advise me as to whether one single standard is superior to the other, and why?

Thanks!

No one standard is better than the other and they are always being improved upon with DVD writing speeds...

-r media is usually cheaper though at around £1 per disc and +r at around £1.40...

All PC DVD Players should read both formats and all up-to-date DVD Players will read both also with a few sticking to just 1 format...

Keenan the link was very useful and pretty much resolves my query, it looks as though the -R/RW edges it, but thankfully the margin between the 2 standards isn't too big. I wonder if there are any other tests that contradict its conclusion though?

Thanks for your replies.
