DVD to Windows Movie Maker

I have recorded some old cine films to DVD which play o.k. on my laptop. I had hoped to edit them using Windows Movie Maker but can't import them into the program. Is there a (fairly) easy way to do this? Alternatively, I have the films also on VCR tape, could I connect a VCR to the laptop in some way to import the files? Would be grateful for any advice.

movie maker wont support mpeg2 (dvd files) Download a ulead program on a 30 day trial and edit them with that.
