DVD-R's suddenly not recognized

Something odd and frustrating has happened: My Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-106D suddenly does not recognize my DVD-R's. All CD's and DVD-RW's are working fine. This has never been a problem before and I have tried different DVD-R's with no luck. They worked about a week ago. I tried restoring the system, but it did not help. I'm on Windows XP Home edition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

In device manager uninstall and reinstall the DVD.

Thanks for your reply Fruit Bat!
Seems like the problem is solved.... Something funny happened this morning when one of the disks was suddenly recognized. I tried another one and it didn't work again. So I thought to myself - it couldn't be something simple like dust? Sure enough, after some simple cleaning (blowing) the DVD-R's were ok! Sometimes the solution is so simple it is hard to see it. Anyway, sorry for bothering you all. Don't know why it only affected the DVD-R's though.
