DVD-ROM Problem (Can't Watch DVD Movies)

Hi again everyone. Ever since I upgraded from Win 2000 to Win XP I cannot play and watch DVD movies anymore on my laptop. I have several DVD software players including Intervideo Win DVD, Power DVD, Interactual Player, plus Real One and Windows Media Player of which all of them are XP compatible. But none of them can play DVD. One common error says: "The display mode is not supported. Lower your screen resolution or color depth". I already adjusted everything in my display settings but the problem remains. Please tell me what to do for me to be able to watch DVD again on my laptop. Thanks.
