Hi

My pc is about 5 years old and dying, the system crashed the other week when aol tried making me upgrade something, so I had to reinstall windows 98se.
everything seemed succcessful until today.
i have just noticed that my dvd rom will not read any dvds of any sort (-/+ etc)
When I looked at the properties, i see that it is seen as a standard cd-rom not dvd-rom.
I have lots of work stored on dvds and cant access it and so it is very important that I sort this out.
Everything was normanl before the re-install, should i be looking to fiddle with the bios?
I know the easiest answer is to change the pc which i do plan to do soon, but do not have the means at this time.
Would really appreciate your help

Many thanks

John

BIOS would have no effect.

You need to update the win 98 DVD driver in device manager.

Do you have a driver on CD for the DVD player?

You may need to go into the BIOS and re-detect all drives then save and exit and reboot.
