I would like to know what is the best way to configure my drives in terms of primary/secondary etc? I have four drives to accomodate:
Hard Disk (boot disk), cdr, dvdr, Hard DIsk (mainly video data)

my setup is : -
primary/master 60gb hard disc,
primary/slave 40gb hard disc,
secondary/master dvdrom,
secondary/slave cdrw

works for me

Mine is:- primary/master 40gb hard disc, primary/slave 120gb hard disc, secondary/master dvdr/w, secondary/slave dvd.

Has been like this for three months with no problems as yet.

best to have both HDD on one the primary IDE cable (master drive on the end) and the optical drives on the secondary IDE cable. Doubt in matters with optical drive is master and which is slave as long as the master is on the end.
