dvd re writer not writing dvds

  lonemascot 12:44 05 Jun 05

I have a pioneer DVD writer (model 107d). I am trying to write to a Phillips DVD+RW disc and everytime I try, a message appears on screen saying that windows encountered a problem while trying to copy my files.

It writes to CD's fine.

I'm running on windows xp with the drive in the second slot.

I downloaded the pioneer firmware update but that didn't help.

Any ideas from you would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

i was trying to just copy and send files to dvd using windows xp. that process worked when i was burning cd's. is it different when doing dvd's then.

you can burn a cd through XP, but not a dvd. You will need to useNero, Roxio, sonic etc.

use Nero even.

these are free prog's, if you do not have one.

i have just downloaded cdburnerxp pro which seems to have done the job. but when i put my disc in the drive all the files are faded and it says in the top right corner 'write these files to cd' but pressing that doesn't do anything.

did your burner not come with a oem burning suite.?

I'm not too sure about the freeware prog's, and I use Nero for all my burning.

All I can suggest is uninstall that one and try another.

is there not a configuration tool somewhere in the settings, with a drop down box, to highlight your burner.?
