DVD RAM/R no decoder

  S5W 19:02 29 Mar 03

Good evening,
For the past year I have been happily saving data to 9.4 Gb cassette discs. Today I received my first PC Advisor DVD edition (MAY 2003); when I attempted to play the disc a message on screen said that it could not be played because the computer (running Windows xp) had no decoder and yet the disc software all loads perfectly.
Has anyone any idea what may be the prolem.
Thanks, JG

You need something like click here or click here This will allow playback of the DVD video.

Although Windows XP can play DVD's it does not come with the importnat bit which is the decoder.

Thank you very much, I have installed the decoder from interVideo and the DVD works a treat. To think I have spent the last year believing I was switched on to sort out the DVDRAM; little did I know. Thanks again
