My friend has downloaded the first series of LOST and put them on DVD for me to watch but my house DVD wont play them, he saud they wouldnt play on his either but they play on the PC why?? and can I down load them onto my PC and re-burn them to make them play on the house DVD

Some DVD players do not support all formats. It may be that the discs are DVD+R and the players will only support DVD-R. Or even the other way round. Try cpoying the DVDs to the alternative format and trying that.

I've got an 'older' DVD player which wont touch any DVD (DVD-R DVD+R DVD RW etc) that I've burn't on my PC.
However, it does play CD's.
Try converting the files on your DVD to Video CD (VCD), you can do this easily with Nero5.5 onwards, or a good program for converting video formats is TMPGenc.
