If you're using Windows XP, it includes Windows Movie Maker which should allow you to do that. If you need to rip the DVD, use DVD Decripter. click here

Thanks MAJ for info...no idea about editing...so what does DVD Decripter do and how do I use it in Windows Movie Maker?

You need to use a non freeware editor, Ulead, Elements, or Pinnacle Studio V9 or greater.Studio will burn direct to DVD, where as WMM will not, you need conversion software to get it to a VOB (MPEG format). If doing a reasonable amount of editting then studio or the others above are your best option at approx £50.
