Well i recently restored my pc, and norton 2005 as installed so i went to install norton 360 and while doing so got asked to remove all other norton programs so i clicked ok and i got Error: "The installation is missing the file instopts.dat, so i took some steps that symantec gave me and it seemed to solve the problem.

But on restarting my pc, my DVD drive was not picking up the Norton CD, i then noticed on device manager that it had an error and recomended uninstalling and reinstalling, so i did so but it didnt help, so my dvd drive isnt installed properly and i have no norton, this sucks.

Any help would be appreciated.

Virtually all CDs /DVDs players and writers will use the same windows drivers in XP. they are in the windows\system32\dirvers\ or windows\system32\DRIVERS \ folder and are:-

and in the windows\system32 folder

try device manager update driver and install these files. to get your CD/DVD working again.
