DVD Drives and Music

I purchased a new Benq DVD writer which plays DVD movies but there is no sound from music CD's.
There is no provision for analog cable and I gather that these new drives do not need one, so what's missing.

Right click the cd/dvd drive in My Computer/Properties/hardware/Select the drive and properties/tick the box Enable Digital cd Audio for this device/and ok.

Thanks for the tip, skidzy, but the enable digital audio cd area is all greyed-out.

All problems relating to sound and picture replay were corrected by downloading the Codec pack recommended by `SKIDZY'. This included `Media Player Classic' which did a better job than the program that came with the DVD drive.
Thank you Skidzy.
