DVD Drives - IDE, Dual Layer whats the difference

Im thinking about upgrading my CD ROM drive to a DVD drive. Only i don't know what the difference is between though diferent types. What is an IDE drive? How would that differ from any other drive and what is Dual Layered?

ide - the standard connection for internal drives.

Dual - layer - some DVDs can hold double the amount - 8gb rather than 4gb (or so). Best get a writer that can do this - it will also do ordinary disks.
