I have recently put in a new motherboard bundle and left my existing DVD Rom and DVD R/W drives in, my problem is that windows does not recognise them as DVD drives and after installing anydvd it does not recognise any dvd drives. am i missing something here ???

Do they show up in "My Computer" and "Device Manager"?

Right click "My Computer" and select "Manage" and then "Disk Management". Are they there? Any errors reported?

when computer management it says CD-ROM 0 and CD-ROM 1 and underneath just says DVD (D) and (E) but when i put in a DVD it wont play just says no drivers installed for DVDs??

Are they recognised in the POST when you first switch PC on?

Hang on, just re read your last post properly.
Windows media player needs the correct codecs to be able to play DVD films. Try installing PowerDVD or some other DVD playback software and see if that cures it.
