DVD Drivers for a Packard Bell

  keithjm 19:07 09 Nov 06

Hi, my pc won't recognise that my dvd driver is a re-writable. I think I just need to install the drivers for the re-writer drive but I don't know where to find them. I am not very good when it comes to the tech side of things.

I know that this happened once before and someone installed the driver and it started to work again.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a Packard Bell 1618 Imedia pc.

click here go to their website and they should have the drivers available in the downloads section.

I tried their website and it does not show drivers for optical disk drives.

I can't for the life of me remember how it was fixed last time.

XP will not even recognise a DVD writer anyway as you will need tird party software to write to any DVD
Nero and Roxio are the main burning software makers.

I my computer, right click drive, select properties, in the recording tab, make sure "Enable recording on this drive" is ticked.

There are no special drivers for a DVD drive. It just uses the standard CD Rom driver from windows. To burn it needs software as has been said. Windows own built in software will allow you to burn a CD but not a DVD you need other software for that. Nero is my favourite.
