I am using a MSI DVD +R-R disc drive with Nero 6 and Windows XP.
There have been no problems since installation, but recently, when I insert a blank disk, the drive refuses to recognise it. I have tried several makes of disks and various programmes, but all I get is the message, " Please insert the correct type of disk" despite it having accepted them previously.
Any suggestion would be gratefully accepted.

Have you got InCD active?

Yes....Part of Nero 6

You may have nero on CD-R mode. Or your drive may be just messing you around. Try deleting the drive and re-installing it again

I had the same problem last week. The dvd burner (an NEC 2510 )which was only 10 weeks old just stopped working .Got it from Savastore who replaced it immediately with a NEC 3500 at no extra cost.

I should have told you to try running a pre-recorded DVD (which will probably run ok ) then run a CD (which probably wont ).
You could also try using a DVD cleaning disc.
If it does not recognise the cleaning disc its capput.

Many thanks for your suggestions.
My DVD Burner is over a year old so I can't change it.
I will purchase a disk cleaner and also delete the drive as suggested.
