DVD Drive problem

  Dirty Dick 08:58 13 Jun 07

On my new laptop, I have a \DVD rewriter and have started to get a problem. There is no disc in the drive, and when I click on Computer and select the DVD drive, two dialogue boxes pop up, the first says
"Insert a disc"

the second dialogue box says
"DVD Drive D is currently in use. Save any open files on this disc and then close the files or programs using the files before ejecting the disc"

When I DO put a disc in the drive, nothing happens, and if I Explore the contents, it shows as empty. If I put the disc on my Desktop PC, running XP, then everything is ok. My Laptop has Vista Home Premium.

Any ideas please

Seems like a faulty drive.

You say the machine is new - in this case get it replaced as it is unsuitable for purpose.
