My son's packard bell pc running windows xp will not play DVD's. No matter what I try to use, WMP or Home Cinema the program just stop's responding and hangs the computer. I did change the graphics card a month or so back as it had built in graphics which were useless.

I don't know whether he has tried to play a dvd since then or if this was the first time. It certainly did work prior to that. I don't know if this is the problem. His games still play okay and they are DVD.

graphics card is now NVidia geforce 6200 128 ddr

have you tried windvd or power dvd to play dvds. You can download a trial of windvd7 gold.

Did you disable the onboard graphics card ?

Citadel

haven't tried those, but I think the "Home Cinema" package is the same company as Power DVD. The fact that it did work before on both WMP and the "Home Cinema" package suggests to me it's not the software.
