DVD Drive

I got a second hand Acer laptop with no software, but with COA sticker. I downloaded and installed all drivers from website and it works fine. However it includes a DVD-R/W drive which is giving trouble. It will read original cds and dvds, however it won't read copies. Also it writes to cd/dvd, but it can't read them back and other computers won't read them either. I have also noticed that if you play a dvd in windows media player or even a media file video it appears very bright. I don't know if the drive is at fault or I have a software/driver problem.

Anybody any ideas?

Use the Video Settings in WMP to adjust the contrast and/or brightness.

you could try a dvd lens cleaner. These are inexpensive and sorted out many problems for me.

Are you sure you have the correct graphics drivers for the laptop?
